Sauti Kuu Basketball
The Sauti Kuu Basketball Court
The Sauti Kuu Basketball Court is a flagship sports and community facility located at the Sauti Kuu Foundation Centre in Alego, Siaya County, Kenya. Established in 2018 through a partnership between the Sauti Kuu Foundation (SKF) and Giants of Africa (GOA), the court was created to harness the power of sport for youth development, social change, and community empowerment.
As the only standard basketball court in Siaya County, the facility provides a safe and inclusive space for young people and the wider community. With a capacity of up to 600 people, it hosts basketball training sessions, friendly matches, tournaments, mentorship programs, and community forums.
More Than a Game
At Sauti Kuu Foundation, basketball goes beyond sport. It is intentionally used as a platform for learning and development—promoting life skills such as leadership, discipline, teamwork, gender equality, education, and social responsibility.
Through structured sports activities, young people receive mentorship and guidance that help build resilience, confidence, and positive behavior, preparing them to become active and responsible members of society.
Renovation and Infrastructure Development
To ensure the court remains functional, safe, and sustainable, Giants of Africa committed to a two-phase renovation:
Phase One (2024)
Phase One focused on restoring the playing surface and enhancing the overall appearance of the court. This included resurfacing and repainting, giving the facility a refreshed and professional look.
Following the renovation, Masai Ujiri visited the court and participated in a photo and video shoot for Canada Goose, further highlighting the significance of the project and reinforcing the partnership with Giants of Africa.
Phase Two (2025)
Launched in February 2025, Phase Two focused on structural improvements aimed at protecting the court and enhancing user experience. Key upgrades included:
- Flood control infrastructure
- Improved drainage systems
- Installation of floodlights
- Safety screening
- Drinking water points
